Selena Gomez has disclosed information about the health procedures she underwent while battling lupus, a systemic autoimmune disease.

Selena Gomez has revealed she underwent chemotherapy to prevent herself from having a stroke while battling lupus.

The 23-year-old singer-and-actress was diagnosed with the systemic autoimmune disease several years ago.

And at one point the illness became so severe, she had to take time out from the spotlight to prevent it from progressing.

"I was diagnosed with lupus, and I've been through chemotherapy," she told Billboard magazine. "That's what my break was really about. I could've had a stroke."
